On November 28, the China Construction Industry Association released the list of winners for the second batch of the Luban Prize for Chinese construction projects in 2022-2023. The project titled "2,700 KTA High-quality Special Steel Project of Linyi Iron and Steel Investment Group Special Steel Co., Ltd. - Ironmaking, Steelmaking, and Rolling Works" Led by CERI and jointly applied with China MCC22 Group Corporation Ltd., China First Metallurgical Group Co., Ltd. and Shanghai MCC20 Group Corp., Ltd., was among the honored projects. This is the first time for CERI to win the Luban Prize as the main applicant.

2,700 KTA High-quality Special Steel Project of Linyi Iron and Steel Investment Group Special Steel Co., Ltd. is located in Lingang Economic Development Zone, Linyi City, Shandong Province. It is a major construction project and "Number 1 Project" under the strategic planning and deployment of the "Advanced Manufacturing Base" by the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Shandong Province. It also stands as the largest single-contract value for EPC general contracting of iron and steel metallurgy full-process special steel base undertaken by CERI in its 72-year history. At the beginning of the project, CERI organized its construction in accordance with the Luban Prize standards. The project subsequently received numerous awards, including the Construction Engineering Excellent Structure Quality Award of Shandong Province, the Excellent Structure Engineering Award of Metallurgical Construction Industry, the National First Prize for Excellent Engineering Design Achievements in Metallurgical Industry, and the National Excellent Engineering Quality Achievement Award in Metallurgical Industry. Incorporating over 40 new processes and equipment such as high-quality special steel continuous casting technology that won the National Science and Technology Progress Award, the project garnered 5 provincial and ministerial-level Science and Technology Progress Awards. It disseminated and applied 9 major items and 39 sub-items of 10 new technologies in the construction industry, obtained 15 national patents, and established a new demonstration for the production of next-generation high-quality special steel. It created a new benchmark for an excellent special steel base with a reasonable layout, advanced equipment, ultra-low emission, intelligence and efficiency, initiating a new era of intelligent steel manufacturing empowered by a "smart brain", and contributing to the restructuring of steel manufacturing and sustainable social development.
