The Old Area Retreating and Integration Project of Hansteel, Constructed by CERI, Obtained a Three-Star Rating in Green Construction Level Evaluation

Date:2026-06-22

On April 17-18, China Association of Construction Enterprise Management held the 2026 Conference on Promoting Green and Low-Carbon Construction in the Engineering Construction Industry in Suzhou. At the conference, the 2025 Star Rating Certificates for Green Construction Level Evaluation of Engineering Projects were awarded. The Old Area Retreating and Integration Project of HBIS Hansteel, for which Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as CERI) was responsible for the overall design and served as the EPC contractor for multiple process units, including ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling, and public utility facilities, won a Three-Star Certificate for Green Construction Level Evaluation of Engineering Projects. This award is the highest honor in the field of green construction bestowed by China Association of Construction Enterprise Management.

During the construction of the project, CERI adhered to the advanced construction philosophy of a new generation of integrated iron and steel enterprise featuring "high-end, green and intelligence". It adopted advanced metallurgical process integration theory and method, applied dynamic precision design and process interface technology, and fully utilized existing equipment and sites, successfully building an ultra “compact" long-process steel manufacturing base.

The project department continuously enhanced its awareness and level of energy conservation and environmental protection management, promoted the implementation of energy-saving and carbon-reduction plans, practiced the green and low-carbon design concept, fully implemented the energy saving, water saving, land saving, material saving, time saving, and environmental protection measures, and applied a total of over 80 green construction technologies, achieving deep integration of design, procurement, and construction. Through internal balancing of earthwork and scientific use of existing roads and planned formal roads as temporary facility land, the project department effectively reduced environmental damage. In the project, CERI applied 39 sub-items across 9 major categories of the ten new technologies in the construction industry, actively adopted the "Four New" technologies, and through measures such as resource recycling and a combination of permanent and temporary structures, strove to build the project into a green and environmentally friendly project, promoting the harmonious coexistence between project construction and natural ecology.
