The Technical Upgrade Project for No. 2 Heating Furnace Body on the 1580 Hot Continuous Rolling Line at the Hot Rolling Plant of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Successfully Completed Its Hot Commissioning
Recently, the Technical Upgrade Project for No. 2 Heating Furnace Body on the 1580 Hot Continuous Rolling Line at the Hot Rolling Plant of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group, undertaken by CERI Phoenix Industrial Furnace Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as CERI Phoenix Industrial Furnace), a subsidiary of CERI, successfully completed its hot commissioning. This project is a landmark project for CERI Phoenix Industrial Furnace to serve Wuhan Iron and Steel Group again after ten years.
The 1,580 mm hot continuous rolling line of Wuhan Iron and Steel Group is the core equipment for the annual production of 2.8 million tons of high-grade steel. It is responsible for rolling high-end products such as grain-oriented silicon steel and high-grade non-oriented silicon steel, and the stable operation of its heating furnace directly impacts the efficiency and product quality of the entire line. The purpose of this technical upgrade is to address issues such as high energy consumption and declining thermal efficiency of the No. 2 heating furnace after long-term operation. This technical upgrade aims to improve quality and efficiency while reducing energy consumption and costs.
During the design phase, the team fully aligned with Baowu Group’s production process requirements, optimized the furnace body structure design, upgraded the automation control system, and adopted new high-efficiency combustion technology and thermal insulation materials, ensuring that the renovated equipment meets environmental emission standards and requirements for long-term stable operation. During the execution phase, the project team stayed at the frontline, strictly controlled construction quality and safety with the spirit of craftsmanship, and focused on key processes such as hearth structure optimization and combustion system upgrade. Their professional competence and pragmatic work style won high praise from the Owner. During ignition, drying-out and hot commissioning with red steel discharge, all components of the furnace body delivered stable performance under hot conditions, moisture in refractory materials was successfully removed, and the temperature control system responded with high precision, fully verifying the scientific soundness of the design scheme and the reliability of construction quality.
