Beijing Yizhuang Circuit of the GT World Challenge: Dancing with the City at Extreme Speed
From October 17 to 19, the final round of the GT World Challenge Asia was held beside Tongming Lake in Yizhuang, Beijing. A key highlight was the “figure-8” circuit designed by Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (CERI).
According to the project lead of CERI, the circuit was adapted from existing municipal roads, leveraging the ecological landscape of Tongming Lake and the surrounding Information Technology Application Innovation Park (Xinchuang Park). It seamlessly connects urban arteries such as Kechuang 17th Street and Tonghui Main Canal Road, forming a 4.9-kilometer, nine-turn “figure-8” track. The design balances high-difficulty racing with integration of modern architecture, natural scenery, and commercial zones, creating a distinctive “race scenic line”. The circuit meets Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Class III standards, with asphalt milling and resurfacing flatness controlled within ±3 millimeters per 4 meters. During the event’s rainy opening day, the track demonstrated reliable drainage and grip, with no safety incidents attributed to design flaws, confirming its robustness under race conditions.
Nearly 40 race cars competed on the circuit, delivering thrilling high-speed action and engine roars to an audience of over ten thousand spectators who witnessed an electrifying urban racing spectacle.
