Recently, the High-Performance Silicon Steel (Phase I) Hydrogen Production Station Project for Guangxi Hongwang New Material Technology Co., Ltd., contracted by MCC Capital Engineering & Research Incorporation Limited (hereinafter referred to as CERI), was officially completed and commissioned. The Project has successfully extracted high-purity hydrogen with a concentration of up to 99.999%, providing a core energy supply for Guangxi Hongwang’s production line of high-performance cold-rolled silicon steel. This signifies CERI's breakthrough in the efficient and intensive utilization of coke oven gas (COG) resources.
In this first COG-hydrogen project undertaken by CERI, the pressure swing adsorption (PSA) process is adopted. Based on kinetic differences between hydrogen and other gaseous components in COG on the adsorbent, periodic pressure changes enable selective adsorption and desorption of impurities, ultimately achieving the separation and extraction of high-purity hydrogen. The Project's operation significantly enhances the electromagnetic properties and surface finish of Guangxi Hongwang's cold-rolled silicon steel products, which serve as essential materials for high-end applications such as New-Energy Vehicle motors and transformers.
During project execution, faced with challenges like Guangxi's high temperatures, heavy rainfall, and extremely limited site space, the CERI project team overcame these obstacles through innovative design and lean management. The engineering design featured a dual-floor vertical layout, precisely positioning the COG compressor on the second floor of the main plant building, reducing current land occupation and reserving space for future development. During construction, meticulous installation and commissioning ensured that equipment vibration levels were strictly maintained well below national and industry standards, guaranteeing long-term safe and stable operation and earning high praise from the Owner.
