Recently, the Electric Control System Upgrading Project for the No.3 Rotary Shear on the High-speed Wire and Rod Production Line I of Shougang Shuicheng Iron & Steel (Group) Co., Ltd. was successfully put into production. The Project was designed, supplied and commissioned by CERI Digital Technology Co., Ltd.

Completed in 2006, No. 3 rotary shear faces a serious aging problem with its electric control equipment. In this transformation of its electric control system, CERI's variable-frequency drive (VFD) is used as the main drive, and the control system independently developed by the Company is used for process control. The scanning time of core control programs is 1 ms, meeting the requirements for accurate length control in continuous rotary shearing and quick response of servo switch.

The transformation was carried out in the one-week overhaul of the production line. With rich experience in project management and professional knowledge & competence in control technology, the project team from CERI Digital Technology Co., Ltd. completed the transformation in only 3 days. The electric control system of No. 3 rotary shear succeeded in the hot on-load test run at one time and was smoothly put into operation. The maximum shearing speed can reach 19 m/s, the electric control system operates stably, with high shearing accuracy and a shearing repetition error < 50 mm, and the servo switch records a vibration value reduced by 70%. The transformation effectively improves the yield and operation rate of the whole production line and has been highly recognized by the Owner.
