The Bar Mill Main Transmission Upgrading Project in operation at KISC

Date:2024-06-12

On March 10, the Bar Mill Main Transmission Upgrading Project of KISC, which was designed and commissioned by CERI Digital Technology Co., Ltd., was successfully put into production.

The Bar Production Line I at the steel rolling mill of Kunming Iron & Steel Holding Co., Ltd. (KISC) was put into operation in July 2012. However, the old variable-frequency drive (VFD)  of the main transmission of the rolling mill had been out of production, leading to expensive spare parts and difficulty in maintenance for automation personnel, impacting regular production. The upgrading was carried out during the overhaul of KISC's production line. Despite encountering construction alterations and a demanding commissioning schedule, the project team from CERI Digital Technology Co., Ltd. accomplished the commissioning within a remarkable 48-hour timeframe, showcasing exceptional technical expertise.

The utilization of the refurbished 650 bar transmission at the Headquarters significantly lowered the upgrading cost. The upgrading of the main transmission in the rolling mill enhanced the overall control performance, streamlined subsequent equipment maintenance, and facilitated spare parts procurement. Additionally, the No.1-3 rotary shear control systems were upgraded to boost production line efficiency, ensuring reliable operation and capacity enhancement for KISC's bar production line. The Owner acknowledged the project team of CERI Digital Technology Co., Ltd. for their professional expertise and efficient services.
