CERI's Core Equipment of Proprietary High-speed Powder Color Coating Technology Successfully Landed in Algeria
At 15:30 on October 22, 2023 (local time), the one-time hot loaded test run of the powder color coating unit in Algeria supplied by CERI was successfully completed and the first coil of color powder coated steel was produced. The unit ran stably, the system was stable, and the appearance quality, evenness, and mechanical performance indexes of the coatings met or exceeded the contract requirements.
The designed annual production capacity of the unit under this project is 100 kt. The maximum operating speed of the process section in Phase I is 30 m/min and can reach 60 m/min after speed-up in Phase II. The product's width is 700 ~ 1,250 mm and the thickness is 0.2 ~ 1.0 mm. The unit process section uses the CERIPOWDER® high-speed continuous electrostatic powder spraying technology, which was an environment-friendly technology developed by CERI. This technology has many advantages such as being green, low-carbon, efficient, and producing high-quality products with added value. It achieves zero VOC emissions and is the first vertical and horizontal continuous spraying process for metal coils both domestically and internationally. This provides a technical guarantee for the production of high-end color powder coated sheets.
The equipment of the unit process section mainly includes the horizontal back spraying system, gas infrared preheating oven, vertical front spraying system, gas infrared curing oven, and oven temperature control system. The unit process section is equipped with an ultra-strong electrostatic spray gun independently developed by CERI, with a one-time powder adhesion rate of up to 80%. Meanwhile, the gas infrared radiation rapid curing technology is adopted to shorten the curing time of powder coatings from 120 seconds to less than 30 seconds, reducing energy consumption per ton of steel by 40%, and thus greatly reducing the one-time investment and production and operation cost of the production line.
