CERI Facilitates the Successful Holding of "International Hydrogen Metallurgy Symposium 2023"
The "International Hydrogen Metallurgy Symposium 2023," jointly organized by the Chinese Society for Metals and HBIS Group, and co-hosted by CERI, opened successfully in Chongli, Hebei Province on the morning of September 5. The symposium lasted for three days, with more than 500 participants including renowned experts, scholars, and researchers from 12 countries including Australia, South Korea, Italy, and others. Yue Wenyan, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of CERI, Han Bing, General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and Li Tie, Member of the Party Committee and Deputy General Manager of CERI attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Yue Wenyan was interviewed by China Metallurgical News. He pointed out that under the current global rise of "carbon tariffs" policies and the comprehensive implementation of a national strategy of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", the green and low-carbon "hydrogen metallurgy" pathway will become an important approach for the sustainable development of the steel industry. CERI took the lead in applying hydrogen energy to steel production, built a hydrogen metallurgical process route based on hydrogen-based direct reduction process, and carried out research and development of key technologies such as direct reduction ironmaking, gas self-reforming, gas heating furnace, water treatment, carbon dioxide capture and purification, hot delivery and hot charging of hydrogen metallurgical products. It is currently the first technology company in the world to complete the layout and engineering development of a complete set of hydrogen metallurgy technologies. The successful implementation and safe and stable operation of the world's first 1.2 million-ton hydrogen metallurgy demonstration project of HBIS Group Zhangxuan Technology under the overall design of CERI has well demonstrated the Company's strength and achievements in the field of low-carbon metallurgy. With this achievement, CERI has become the only company in China with short-process plant design and engineering capabilities covering hydrogen-based ironmaking, DRI electric furnace and strip casting and rolling.
