On August 18, the 80t converter of Malaysia Eastern Steel Sdn. Bhd.'s 2.7 MTA project started hot commissioning. At 17:58, steel was successfully tapped out, marking the successful operation of the converter steelmaking project.

The Project's EP contractor is CERI. The main process facilities include: one 80t converter, one set of double-station hot metal pretreatment system (single-blown granular magnesium), one reserved 80t LF ladle refining furnace (No. 2 LF), and supporting public and auxiliary facilities.
