On the occasion of the arrival of the Year of the Rabbit in 2023, the PCI of 1380 m³ Blast Furnace Works of Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd, designed, supplied and commissioned by CERI, was successfully completed and put into operation at 9:08 a.m. on January 18.

The PCI of blast furnace works is the first works completed and put into operation in the 2,700 kt Project (Phase II) of Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd, and CERI is the EP contractor of the Project. Other works of the 2,700 kt Project of Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd will be completed and put into operation successively.

The 2,700 kt Project of Eastern Steel Sdn Bhd is a large-scale steel project currently under construction in Southeast Asia, and is also one of the key projects for China's steel industry to go global and international capacity cooperation. The Project covers the tubular belt conveyors in port, the closed comprehensive stockyard, the 200 ㎡ belt sintering machine, the 1380 m³ blast furnace and supporting PCI equipment, the 80T converter, the slab continuous casting works, the 1450 mm hot rolling works, and other public and auxiliary supporting works. As the technical and EP contractor of the Project, CERI has provided the Client with preliminary consultation with international insights, industry-leading technical design, equipment with reliable quality and comprehensive and detailed project management service to fully ensure the successful operation of the Project.

The PCI of blast furnace works was commenced in April 2022, and put into operation as scheduled after more than 8 months of hard work, during which all participating departments of the Company overcame difficulties such as great difficulty in overseas transportation, severe domestic epidemic situation, centralized layout of equipment and 24-hour commissioning of equipment and instruments, and the project team took multiple measures in respect of organizational structure, schedule, design, equipment procurement, logistics plan, safety and quality control, promoted the work progress as planned, strictly controlled the risks, and finally completed the works to the satisfaction of the Client.
