CERI's "Complete Technology of High-efficiency and Long-life Converter Flue Gas Heat Recovery" on the List of 2022 Pilot Technologies of Innovation

Recently, the lists of the 2022 "Innovation China" series of China Association for Science and Technology were released. CERI's "Complete Technology of High-efficiency and Long-life Converter Flue Gas Heat Recovery", stood out from 178 enterprises declaring green and low-carbon achievements, was on the List of Pilot Technologies for Green and Low-carbon Industry. It was the first time that CERI's name was on the List of Pilot Technologies of Innovation China.


As a benchmark driving scientific and technological innovation and high-quality development, the "Innovation China" series focus on the industrial innovation needs of "Innovation China" pilot cities (parks) in six major fields, including electronic information, biomedicine, equipment manufacturing, advanced materials, resources and environment, and modern agriculture and forestry, through the collection, selection and release of high-quality projects and technologies, thus supporting the scientific and technological innovation and integration, and serving the development of technology and economy.


Classified into the traditional field of flue gas cooling and waste heat recovery for converter steelmaking in the metallurgical industry, CERI's "Complete Technology of High-efficiency and Long-life Converter Flue Gas Heat Recovery" focuses on the major process defects of the existing compound circulating cooling methods at home and abroad, addresses the core technical problem that the system energy conservation and long service life of flue cannot be achieved at the same time, and introduces the key technology for optimal energy consumption of evaporative cooling of converter flue. It effectively addresses the common technical problems such as high energy consumption, high failure rate and low steam output of the system, and greatly improves the safety and cost-efficiency of the converter heat recovery system.


Main technical innovations: I. A series of high-efficiency and energy-saving power equipment have been developed based on the idea of cascade utilization of energy, effectively addressing the problem of high failure rate and low steam output of the flue gas system, and improving the steam output by optimizing the energy consumption system. II. The follower sealing structure of movable gas hood is invented, which effectively addresses the common technical problems of the movable gas hood, such as poor sealing effect, high nitrogen consumption, and unsmooth lifting. III. A new coating technology combining the single-return structure of the fixed flue section with the alloy spraying of the flue heated surface has been developed, making a breakthrough in the key technology and addressing the design difficulty of heat and mass transfer and external protection of the heated surface of the traditional heated pipe. A steam-blocking-proof heated pipe structure for efficient heat and mass transfer has been developed, greatly improving the service life of the flue. This achievement has been widely used in about 200 converters of large and medium-sized iron and steel enterprises in China such as Baosteel Group, Shougang Group and Bensteel Group. The service life of the flue can be increased by more than 2 years on average, and the steam output can be increased by 10%~20%, with remarkable economic and social benefits.
