The 40,000 Nm³/h oxygen generator unit of Oxygen Generation Phase I of the Hansteel Relocation and Integration Project was successfully put into production. CERI is the general contractor of the works. The unit successfully generated acceptable oxygen and nitrogen, the commissioning of the compressor unit was completed, and the medium-pressure nitrogen compressor and the medium-pressure oxygen compressor were put into operation according to the production requirements of Hansteel New Area. Now, the oxygen generator unit and the supporting utilities and auxiliary facilities are running smoothly, and Phase I has entered the full production stage.

The oxygen generation works provides important energy support for oxygen, nitrogen and argon media for production of the whole plant in Hansteel New Area. The project made full use of the existing equipment to reduce construction investment, relocated 4 oxygen generator units, carried out technical upgrading, and adopted a new rare gas extraction unit to minimize cost and improve efficiency.

The project is China's first air separation project which relocated 4 oxygen generator units in one phase and carried out technical upgrading. The Phase I includes  relocation of the 40,000 Nm³/h air separation unit and supporting compressor unit of Xuansteel, and utilization of the existing gas spherical tank of Hansteel, and construction of new facilities such as pressure regulating system, liquid storage and gasification system, circulating water system, instruments, electrical system, and control system. The Phase II includes relocation of two 20,000 Nm³/h oxygen generator units and one 16,000 Nm³/h oxygen generator unit of Hansteel.
